APPLICATION INFORMATION AND INTERVIEWS
Applications for the Case Neurology Residency program
are submitted through the
Electronic
Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Interviews for invited applicants take place on Fridays,
starting in late October and continuing
through early January. The Department of Neurology
arranges and pays for overnight accommodations on
Thursday night for applicants invited for an interview.
Candidates attend a reception and dinner the evening
before with a group of the current residents.
The interview program begins on Friday morning at 8:00
a.m. with Neurology Grand Rounds. The Department
provides for transportation between the hotel and
hospital. After Grand Rounds, there is a continental
breakfast and an orientation session with the Program
Director, Dr. David Preston, followed by the interviews
with several of the faculty. At lunch, there are presentations
from several of the Neurologic Center Directors discussing the clinical and research highlights of the
program. The applicants then meet with the Chairman, Dr.
Anthony Furlan, followed by a resident guided tour of UH
Case Medical Center. Afterward, the candidates go to the
Cleveland VA Medical Center for a tour of the clinical
and research facilities. The day typically concludes no
later than 4 p.m. Arrangements for applicants with
specific clinical or research interests can be made to
meet with additional faculty.
The Case Neurology Residency Program is a four-year
categorical program in neurology that includes a PGY-1
year of internal medicine training.
The Neurology PGY-1
year is identical to that of the first year residents in
the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Case. The
PGY-1 neurology residents are supervised by the Program
Directors both in Internal Medicine and in Neurology.
The Case Neurology Residency Program participates in the
National Resident Matching Program (www.nrmp.org)
which announces its results in the middle of March.
