MEDICAL ANNUAL FUND

The Medical Annual Fund is critical to advancing the School of Medicine's core mission and highest priorities. Gifts to the Medical Annual Fund immediately impact the School by providing funding for student scholarships, research initiatives, educational programs, and enhancements to current facilities.

Scholarships

Annual fund dollars are necessary for the School of Medicine to offer much needed scholarship and loan assistance to deserving medical students. As the cost of medical education continues to climb, the competition among medical schools for these highly qualified students is intense, and availability of financial aid is often the determining factor in a student's choice. Currently, eighty-two percent of our students finance their medical education through loans. Scholarships are essential to attracting the best and brightest students to Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and to encourage diversity among our class.

Dean's Catalytic Fund

In 2011, the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation continued its commitment to the School of Medicine by establishing once again a $1 million challenge grant. Over the next three years, gifts from alumni and friends will be matched dollar for dollar. These funds will allow Dean Davis the ability to support initiatives that will increase even more funding for the School of Medicine.

Departments and Programs

Alumni and friends of the School of Medicine can choose to direct their Annual Fund gifts to a specific department or program. These funds are used at the discretion of the department chairpersons to advance departmental priorities.

Dean's Society

Gifts of $1,000 and higher qualify for inclusion in the Dean's Society, which recognizes donors for their leadership role in supporting the medical school. Dean's Society donors receive a personal acknowledgement from the Dean and special invitations to a variety of campus events. Dean's Society gifts are an especially important part of our efforts to continually enhance the quality of education within the school.
